Investing in Innovations for Thriving Communities and Healthy People – Wednesday, February 29

You are invited to register for the upcoming forum entitled: Investing in Innovations for Thriving Communities and Healthy People, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in partnership with the Health Wealth Connections Collaborative. The forum will take place at the San Francisco Federal Reserve conference center on Wednesday, February 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an optional reception to follow. If your schedule will not permit you to attend for a full day, you are welcome to come for either the morning or afternoon session only.

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together professionals from academia, public health, financial institutions, philanthropy and community development to shed light on the social determinants of health and explore community based models and strategies that are addressing both the social and physical conditions of at risk populations.  It turns out that where people live, how much they earn, and their educational attainment has a significant impact on their health and life expectancy.  It also turns out that better health care is just a part of the solution. Factors that predict good health such as income, education, and neighborhood are perhaps more important.  So how can the economic and social conditions of disadvantaged communities be changed to improve health outcomes for its residents?

This ground breaking forum brings the Healthy Communities conversation to northern California and you are invited to be a part of the dialogue. If you are interested in learning more about the topic in advance, you are encouraged to visit our Healthy Communities web site where you can see agendas and videos of speakers from other forums that have been held across the country: http://www.frbsf.org/cdinvestments/conferences/healthy-communities.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. We anticipate a tremendous interest in this event and reserve the right to limit attendance based on capacity. Registration and the agenda are available at:  http://healthycommunitiesfeb29.eventbrite.com.  On behalf of the organizing partners and speakers, we look forward to your participation.
